LAPP Tannehill Hires Sales Operations Rep
Meet John Schindler, LAPP Tannehill’s new Sales Operations Rep who will be supporting the sales team through process optimization and data-driven efficiency.
What are past positions you've held in your career? And what skills/experience do you bring to this position?
I have been a Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager, Inside Sales Rep, Customer Service Rep. I have performed many tasks related to this position and working for distributor in general. I have performed warehouse duties, purchasing, customer service, sales quote/order entry, inside sales, and ecommerce sales. Any task a distributor has I have performed at one point or another.
What’s your favorite part about working in your field?
I get the most satisfaction by helping a customer find the product they need that best fits their application, providing quality customer service and then processing the sales transaction.
What’s a new skill you’re hoping to learn or improve in this role?
I am hoping to learn to navigate the company systems quickly so I can be productive in helping achieve goals. There is always something a person can improve on so the more training and experience I get with LAPP Tannehill the more I will improve on everything.
If you could switch careers for a day, what would you do?
I think I would like to be physical therapist. My father in-law is a retired PT and some of the stories he tells of diagnosing certain trouble-some or uncommon symptoms and helping the patients recover and feel good fascinates me.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? What are your hobbies/passions?
I enjoy family time; games, movie night, hanging out, hiking, cooking dinner together. I like exercising, reading, watching hockey, playing golf, hiking, and travelling.
Do you have a favorite book, movie, or TV show now?
There are too many movies I love to name them all. I guess the last show I watched that I really enjoyed was Severance. I like checking out the newest TV shows, especially the ones that make you think. I am reading a book called ‘The Oranges are Sweet.’ It is a biography of a World War II fighter pilot ace from Hill City, MN.
What’s something surprising about you that most people wouldn’t guess?
I am a pretty good cook and grill master.
Do you have a hidden talent or skill you would like to share?
I tell great Dad Jokes…Just ask my kids!
What is one thing unrelated to work that motivates you every day?
My family.
If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?
To let go of the things that are out of your control. That is something I have learned to do and has relieved a lot of stress in my life.
What is something that helps you through the workday?
Exercise. I run on the treadmill or outdoors in spring and summer, about every day. I try to get some sort of exercise every day even if I do not feel 100%.
What is the most unique item on your desk or in your workspace?
Since I just started, I have not had much on my desk yet except the bare office essentials. Out of those items there was a box of staples. Since most everything is saved on the computer, I think I will rarely need to staple anything, and a box of staples may last me 10 years.
What is a hidden gem (restaurant, vacation spot, park, shop, online shop, etc.) that you think more people should know about?
I am not sure how hidden this is but there is a restaurant in Key West, FL called Blue Heaven. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had! The Museum of Natural History in New York is quite fascinating. Valencia golf course near Naples FL has incredible greens. Visiting the State of Virginia. It is underrated!
